Rolling is a volumetric deformation process in which the initial thickness of the material being worked is reduced by the compressive forces exerted by two rolls on the work piece / material.
The rollers rotate in opposite directions so that the material flows between them, exerting compressive forces when passing between them and shear forces originated by the friction that occurs between the rollers and the metal.
This process consists of reducing the diameter of a copper or aluminum wire through a set of dies that have a conical shape (a large inlet and a smaller outlet) inside.
The process, although mechanical at the initial stage, must have an additional annealing process where the wire coming out of the last drawing die must be heated to recover its properties.
